Happy is he who is familiar with the taste of a freshly caught and immediately prepared seashell, who dived behind these delicate treasures, tightly squeezed mother-of-pearl doors, who arranged dinners to the sound of the surf on deserted beaches. Yes, living by the sea is delicious, and I want to share this happiness. That is why another bright event was born in Vladivostok - the mussel festival. For those who know the sea to taste, and those who are ready for gastronomic discoveries.

Forget everything you've tried, if you have so far been familiar with mussels from other parts of the world, or have dealt only with frozen clams. Fresh seaside mussel is unique in taste and composition. Restaurateurs assure that, due to the seawater composition, the local mussels contain more iodine and mineral salts and are able to conquer the most demanding gourmets with their taste. And in May, the seaside clam appears at its best. At this time, the mussel is preparing to spawn, gaining weight and the maximum amount of useful elements, and this is the best time to serve delicacy on the table. Other products are simply not able to compete with mussels in composition. In May, with a portion of the mollusk, a significant dose of group B vitamins, microelements, minerals, amino acids and simply incredible pleasure is guaranteed.

There is no need to worry about the population of these mollusks. Firstly, mussels are one of the most common bivalves and breed very quickly. Secondly, all mussels that go to restaurants during these festival days are not harvested in the wild, but are thoughtfully grown on the farm. Yes, even among the locals, not many people know that a plant for breeding valuable mollusks is successfully operating in Vladivostok. Production is located in the picturesque bay of the Russian island, from where fresh selected mussels will go straight to the cooks.

And how much beauty they can cook! In delicate butter and fragrant sauces, mussels are great on their own and are perfectly combined with rice, pasta and vegetables, some masters even manage to create desserts from clam. Festival organizers do not limit the fantasy chefs. The only rule is that in all the participating restaurants the "mussel" portion should be weighing no less than half a kilo, and costing no more than 300 rubles.
